Cowell’s go Golden for Greenfingers

Staff at a family garden centre have helped raise hundreds of pounds for a Greenfingers Charity and helped their parents celebrate their golden wedding anniversary in style.

Martin Cowell, manager of Cowell’s Garden Centre in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, attended the GCA Conference early this year and took part in a charity auction for Greenfingers.  He very generously bid and won a holiday to Sarah Squire’s (Deputy Chairman at Squire’s Garden Centres) holiday home in Dartmoor which he and his sisters gave to their parents as a present to celebrate being married for 50 years.

Martin said: “My sisters and I presented my parents the fabulous auction prize donated by Sarah Squire last night to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary. They were thrilled and delighted at the gift and had a great, relaxing week away.”

Greenfingers was delighted to receive cheques of just over £30,000 at the GCA Conference from GCA members and key stakeholders in the industry.

Martin and Cowell’s Garden Centre are avid supporters of the work that Greenfingers do and have recently become involved with the Grace House ‘Nest to Rest Garden’ in Sunderland.  Cowell’s along with Johnsons of Whixley are very kindly donating plants and gardening sundries to help bring this magical garden to life and we thank them for their generosity and support.
