Kaleidoscope Garden coming to life at Helen & Douglas House!

Kaleidoscope Garden coming to life at Helen & Douglas House!

We are delighted to report that work is nearly complete on the Kaleidoscope Garden at Helen & Douglas House in Oxford. Having finalised the plans for the build in 2016, work began on the garden earlier this month.

The colourful Kaleidoscope garden has been designed by KLC School of Design competition winner Nicola Wakefield to provide a much needed sheltered area within the existing garden at the hospice. The existing garden, also created by Greenfingers, currently includes a much-loved accessible treehouse next to which the new sheltered area is being built.

The new design will provide a fully hoist-accessible, sheltered area to be enjoyed by children and their families all year round. A colourful, panelled roof and walls will protect hospice users from the elements in cooler weather and create a Kaleidoscope of filtered colours on sunnier days, extending the use of the garden space throughout the year.

We would like to thank all those who took part in Garden Re-Leaf Day 2016 and the following for their generous help in bringing this garden to life, including:

Nicola Wakefield and KLC School of Design; Jo, George and the team at GreenArt; Infinite Playgrounds; LOFA; Beachborough School; Harrod Horticultural; Greenfingers Patron Ann-Marie Powell who helped to select the final design and Greenfingers Emma Hanford who managed the project.

HUGE thank you to everyone involved, we hope you enjoy watching the progress of the garden in the images below and look forward to seeing you at the official opening – date tbc shortly.
