Gardens in progress
Greenfingers Gardens in children's hospices are magical and inspiring spaces in which life-limited children can spend quality time outside with their families, friends and carers. As well as being gardens where therapies, play and precious memories can be created, they can also provide a place for peaceful reflection and remembrance. Due to the continued generosity of those who support Greenfingers Charity, we are looking forward to bringing the precious gift of a garden to more hospices this year and beyond, including the following gardens in progress:
Derian House Children's Hospice, Chorley
Autumn 2022 saw garden designer, Chris Forshaw, begin to transform the tired courtyard garden into a beautiful area for hospice residents and their families. Before, the garden was only accessible via the main hospice building and bedrooms, which disrupts the crucial privacy of these areas. Tackling this has been the key priority, where a mixture of interactive zones have been designed to link together via a central covered space.
