We are absolutely thrilled to announce that this year’s Greenfingers Garden Re-Leaf Day raised in excess of £95,000 – a record breaking year, with funds raised up 30% on the previous year!
Thanks to all the fantastic events and activities undertaken by suppliers, retailers and members of the horticultural industry this year’s incredible total of £95,025 made Greenfingers Garden Re-Leaf Day 2015 – which took place on 27th March – the best ever.
At Greenfingers we are immensely grateful to all those who took part and we were delighted that our trustee, and event founder, Boyd Douglas-Davies was able to share this amazing total with guests at this year’s GIMA Awards which took place at Celtic Manor Resort in July.
Fundraising events which took place for this year’s Re-Leaf Day really showed what a fantastic industry we work in – highlights included the a gardening quiz; Thames Path walk; the Glovies campaign which took social media by storm; QVC’s sterling efforts which raised over £50,000; and of course a wealth of inventive and fun activities which took place at garden centres around the country.
Linda Petrons, Greenfingers Head of Fundraising, commented on the total: “The support we continue to receive from the garden industry is just amazing. Without your help, children and families that use hospices would not have access to an outside space for which to play with their children away from the pressures they face in care, and would also sadly not have a special place to remember those that have passed. Thank you so very much – we hope you will all continue to support us in the future!”
The GIMA Awards were also the perfect place to announce The Greatest Garden Re-Leaf Day fundraising winners. Alton Garden Centre, Wickford, Essex took Gold; Silver went to The Old Railway Line Garden Centre – Brecon, South Wales, whilst Klondyke Garden Centres and Haskins Garden Centres clinched Bronze. Thanks for all your amazing hard work!
Over the four years since Garden Re-Leaf Day’s inception and incredible £270,000 has been raised to help us create more magical gardens in children’s hospices around the UK.
A MILLION THANKS FROM GREENFINGERS TO ALL INVOLVED.
And don’t forget to put the next Greenfingers Garden Re-Leaf Day in your diary – Friday 18th March 2016!
