Get Involved with Greenfingers Garden Re-Leaf Day 2015
The next Garden Re-Leaf day will fall on Friday 27th March 2015 so it is time to start planning your events and activities and get involved today.
With Greenfingers Garden Re-Leaf Day now firmly established in the horticultural calendar the 2015 event is set to be better than ever as organisers hope to get even more garden centres, nurseries, manufacturers and suppliers involved in kick-starting the gardening year for customers whilst raising money for a good cause.
Now is the time to start planning events for March 2015. Anyone wishing to get involved is free to create any event or activity that suits their organisation, or take advantage of ideas such as:
Greenfingers Garden Re-Leaf Day is the perfect way to engage families – why not plan a sunflower planting event, or a children’s ‘cress head’ competition. Efforts will be supported on social media sites via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest, and using the hashtag #GRLcresshead
With the popularity of baking at an all time high, having a baking competition and selling the entries to customers could raise funds – and prove a very tasty idea!
Healthy, morale boosting and teambuilding, sponsored sports events are a great way to involve as many people as possible, creating a spectacle and encouraging customers to donate. Why not set the overall distance target to be the same as:
- Cycling to other centres in your group
- Cycling to your top 5 suppliers (get them to sponsor their leg!)
- Cycling from your head office to Greenfingers head office in Buckinghamshire
Host the ever-popular Greenfingers Garden Re-Leaf Day Quiz – this year featuring horticultural celebrities and Gardeners Question Time panellists. Buy a kit for just £100 with everything you need to set up the quiz in your café or restaurant.
Garden Re-Leaf Day’s Loose Change promotion got off to a good start last year, but there is still a need for more suppliers to get involved. For retailers this is a great opportunity to set up a high profile stand of promotions with your favourite manufacturers with product purchases including a donation.

Deborah Skillicorn, Greenfingers Charity Director, said: “Garden Re-Leaf Day has become a nationwide event, driving footfall into garden centres at the beginning of the year and raising much needed funds to help us create more magical gardens for children in hospices across the country. So this year, we are committed to making Greenfingers Garden Re-Leaf Day 2015 the best yet and are now calling on everyone in the industry to get involved and get fundraising!”
Greenfingers is dedicated to creating much needed gardens at children’s hospices around the UK, providing well designed, stimulating spaces for children with life-limiting conditions, and their families, to enjoy. It is hoped funds raised from Greenfingers Garden Re-Leaf Day 2015 will help create new gardens for many more hospices, including ones in Huddersfield, Kent and Sunderland.
2014’s activities raised £60,000 for Greenfingers, with events such as the celebrity quiz and the Loose Change promotion – both of which will return for 2015 – joined by a raft of new ideas to help retailers get the most out of the event.
Garden Re-Leaf Day founder, Boyd Douglas-Davies who recently became a trustee at Greenfingers, added: “Greenfingers Garden Re-Leaf Day 2015 is an unmissable opportunity to get customers in store earlier, kick-starting the peak season and raising money to boot. Now is the perfect time to plan events into your spring schedule and get involved!”
