Leading flower and vegatable seed produce Mr Fothergill’s are kindly helping to raise money for Greenfingers with one of their delightful sweet pea varieties this Summer.
‘Jimelda’ is a beautiful new sweet pea introduced exclusively for the 2015 season by Mr Fothergill’s. This variety has been named Jimelda in honour of much loved husband and wife actors, and Greenfingers patrons, Jim Carter and Imelda Staunton OBE, who are also keen gardeners at their north London home.
Mr Fothergill’s are very kindly donating 25p from every packet of ‘Jimelda’ sold to Greenfingers – so it’s time to get to your local garden centre or visit the Mr Fothergill’s website to buy your packets and get planting now!
Here’s a little more about what you can expect from your Jimleda sweet peas… While first appearing to be crimson pink, this subtle bicolour has a crimson flag petal, and bright cerise pink wings. It typically carries four or five flowers per long, strong stem. The nicely waved blooms have a medium scent. These beautifully scented blooms make dwarf hedging or can climb up trellis and are super cut flowers. Nothing can beat the sweet pea for all round performance – garden decoration and wonderful fragrance in the garden and the vase!
And whilst you are growing your Jimelda sweet peas there is a chance to enter the Mr Fothergill’s Annual Sweet Pea competition and win up to £500! To find out how to turn your sweet peas into pounds please click here for further information.
