Ty Gobaith: Terrace Garden - Conwy

As a new hospice for North Wales, Ty Gobaith had a wonderful site on the banks of the River Conway, but in order to bring the best out of the river view and the garden for the children and families using the new hospice, careful planning was required.

Whilst the slope down the to river was only gentle, to give safe access to wheelchair users and others with mobility difficulties, a wide but solid pathway on a very gentle gradient was required. As the path zig-zagged its way down towards the water, secluded seating areas were included to allow for quiet contemplation of the picturesque views.

To support the hospice in the longer term, low maintenance shrubs were added to give year-round ground cover and colours for every season, and the wildflower meadow garden next the river edge provides a wonderful display each year.
