When Julia's House in Dorset was built the garden fell outside the original budget. So with half an acre to fill, Greenfingers took on the challenge. The garden project needed to create a number of new landscape elements in various areas, and incorporating aspects that are already present.
Designer, Amanda Patton included a raised timber walkway through the existing rhododendron and birch glade, leading to a sunburst display of low walled gravel and grass ‘rays’. A tranquil garden area, water feature and lawns have also been introduced.
The seaside theme that is evident throughout Julia’s House has been reflected in the new garden plans through colour and shape, with pathways featuring moulded sea ‘fossils’ – the first formally laid by the Earl of Wessex in May 2006.
Deputy Chief Executive, Gavin Fisher, said: "A wonderful outdoor environment for the children to enjoy, full of interest and fun, while managing to be practical too. It is beautiful garden, which will only keep on becoming more and more spectacular with time."
The garden was officially opened by Alan Titchmarsh on 4th April 2007.
