Even with the beauty of the Lake District next door, Eden Valley Hospice in Carlisle needed an outdoor space that would allow all wheelchair users an opportunity to get closer to nature. With great support from the local radio station, CFM, half the funding for the garden was raised in just one week - £45,000 - a tribute to the generosity of listeners of CFM.
The new garden saw great improvements to the pathways and beds in the gardens, and the installation of a characterful elephant water fountain, provided a stunning centrepiece to the garden.
A small summer house allows use of the garden in all weathers, and with colourful and aromatic planting the garden will be able to lift the spirits throughout the year.
