On the warmest day of the year, Dave Denny received the call from the pilot of his support vessel, the Satin Sea, to let him know conditions were right and it was “his turn” to cross the Channel, not in the boat but in the chilly waters of the English Channel.
In 2013 Dave swam as part of a relay team but this time decided it might be “fun” to go solo. After many months of training, and blogging he completed the 21 mile swim from Dover to France in a very respectable 9 hours 16 mins.
Tracking his progress in the water, friends, colleagues and even complete strangers sent messages of luck on social media and his online giving page.
Dave’s challenge continues as he now wants to double his original fundraising target of £500 to a whopping £1000. In true British Olympic style, you can help him achieve the “double” by sponsoring him via his Just Giving page here.
